Not in Pennsylvania!
Greetings , When Governor Wolf first proposed making voting by mail legal in Pennsylvania no one really knew what to expect. For many of us, it was one of several long-overdue election reforms my Democratic colleagues and I enthusiastically supported. That was before the Corona virus pandemic struck. Now the change looks prescient. At the time, none of us knew how important voting by mail would be in keeping us safe from unnecessary exposure to COVID-19. And, none of us knew how it would impact voter turnout. At the close of business yesterday, the deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot, in my district a total of 10,431 Democrats requested a ballot and 4,976 have been returned to date, evidence of a higher than expected Democratic voter turnout. Only 3,853 Republicans requested ballots, suggesting a significant enthusiasm gap in our favor. Our challenge will be to get ballots returned to the election office before 8 p.m. on Primary Election Day, June 2nd. Postmarks do not matter if the ballot is not in the hands of Voter Services before 8 p.m on Election Day. My team will be following up with Democratic voters via text messaging, phone calls and social media. You can help the effort by making a donation to my campaign today to help us fund our GOTV drive. Plan B For voters who do not trust dropping their ballots in the mail at this point, there are alternatives:
If you haven’t already, get that ballot mailed in or dropped off! Thank you,
Kristine
